Halloween Week and Pinterest Fails

It's Halloween week 2015....where oh where does the time go?  Friday night is our Wigs and Wine Halloween party and I have....a Faery wig!  Yeah, well, it actually looks like a regular wig with some pink in it but still.

In the meantime, let's talk autumn....here's a pretty epic Pinterest fail from one of our Once Upon a Book (bookclub) gatherings. We wanted to do fall crafts....so ummm yeah...

Here's the whole group (although someone decided to do Christmas...)

And a close up because words will just not describe these... (lol)

And another...

Maybe mine wasn't the only FAIL....but hey we had a great time!

Halloween Party 2015

Yes it's true....guilty as charged....I'm already thinking Halloween....and specifically Halloween party....and the theme will be quite simple really....

Wigs and Wine

I've seen this theme used as cancer awareness and also through a company called Pure Romance Lately I've noticed it cropping up as a bachelorette theme party.......so I thought....what about for Halloween!

That's about all the planning I've accomplished...so find your wigs and get ready...

I'm Batty!

Last week it was all about pumpkins but this week let's take a look at bats, another favorite Halloween icon!

Here's a bat template for making bats to hang or use as window décor!  It's over at Kids Spot.

Or here is a different take on bats....bat bones printable at Thirty Five Ninety Five.

Of course, Martha always takes it up a notch...clever window décor....bats hanging from a black branch!

Mini bat candy bar covers (free printable) over at Skip to My Lou

Bat garland for the mantle or a shelf from Hello Natural.

A printable shadowbox is featured over at Whistle and Ivy.

I think you could have a lot of fun with these bat-iful ideas. I'll be back next week with another Halloween round up!

Looking for Pumpkins

In keeping with my Great Pumpkin Day theme for January: "Looking for Pumpkins in All the Right Places."  I'm doing a "pumpkin roundup" today!

Pumpkin teeth printable bag topper at Dixie Delights. Pretty sweet idea!

Pumpkin Poop anyone....printable tags at Raising Lemons

Or print a free vintage banner from Craftaholics Anonymous.

Mummy pumpkins

Wood pumpkins at DYI Swank.

Handprint family pumpkins at Disney Baby.

Well as you can see...I stuck with a pumpkin theme for this round up but next week I'll feature another Halloween icon.  After all "Looking for Pumpkins in All the Right Places is a topic for gathering Halloween ideas....so why let the pumpkins have all the fun!

Great Pumpkin Days 2015

Personally I always skip Great Pumpkin Day in November and December because of the busyness of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then I start fresh again in January, planning for my second favorite holiday.

I'm going to revamp my Great Pumpkin Day plans and adventures for 2015. For now I am just going to list a basic "theme" or idea for each Great Pumpkin Day. For those who may not know...Great Pumpkin Day is the last day of each month....ending with THE Great Pumpkin Day on October 31st.

GREAT PUMPKIN DAYS 2015

January 31st: Looking for Pumpkins in all the Right Places (spend time web browsing, looking through books and magazines and gather ideas for 2015)

February 28th: Falling in Love with Fall (make a fall craft or décor item)

March 31st: Witches, and Vampires and Ghosts Oh My (planning our annual Boo Bash/Halloween party)

April 30th: Spooktacular Stories (read some ghost stories)

May 31st Even a Ghost has to Eat (fall or party recipes)

June 30th Flashlights, Friends and the Supernatural (go on a ghost hunt)

July 31st Boo (planning boo activities and things for our "ghost" to bring this year)

August 31st The Bell Tolls for Thee (send out save the date cards for the party)

September 30th  First Friday (get ready for First Friday Fab Four event on October 2nd, tentative date at this time)

October 31st: Celebrating the Day

So those are my plans. I encourage you to "look ahead" to 2015 and plan some special fun ways to celebrate Great Pumpkin Day.

Let's Talk Turkey

How about this turkey jar from The Baby Center? It combines a cute craft with a thankful activity. Sweet.

Or this spiffy q-tip turkey from Crafts for all Seasons.

A fruit turkey for your table from A Proverbs 31 Wife  This one is something else but it's super cute and a useful way to serve appetizers!

Another food related turkey! Turkey cupcakes, notice the use of the Swedish fish as tail feathers!
Found on BuzzFeed.

Turkey napkin rings made from bottle caps featured at The Country Chic Cottage.

So as you can see there are plenty of turkeys to be talking about. Freshen up your Thanksgiving with a new turkey idea!
